Who is PROP?
Volunteerism is the key to PROP’s success. Founded in 1971 by local resident Gerry Beckman, who saw a need in this community and organized neighbors to help meet it, PROP has always had a neighborhood feel of one person helping another. Over the years, PROP has grown into a multi-service non-profit agency with a staff of six and over 100 volunteers. Still, PROP is committed to its founder’s original vision of providing services with a personal approach, confidentiality, and dignity.
Who needs PROP services?
Among our clients are families with parents who have been
laid off work and are seeking comparable employment,
and/or are working minimal-paying jobs in an
attempt to meet the needs of their children.
We help those with medication needs who have
lost their medical coverage and are waiting for other
options of support. PROP reaches out to the elderly
who have lost their investments, are living on a limited
income and need to use the food shelf to prevent hunger.
Children are our largest population of clients, needing the stability of a warm home, food and school supplies to ensure they thrive and succeed in school. The working poor benefit from services through monthly food supplement, crisis support, resources and goal-setting to expand their opportunities.
PROP is a saving grace for many residents who have nowhere else to turn.
